Red Bird
Published in Library Binding by Lothrop Lee & Shepard (August, 1900)
Authors: Barbara Mitchell and Todd Doney
Average review score:

Great new knowledge for kids!
This book is great new knowledge for kids. Many kids today have an almost "extinct" image of Native Americans, wearing feathers and breechcloths in a very distant past. This book highlights the real life story of today's urban Native Americans who live in a city but still celebrate their heritage and culture. The lead character, Katie, is shown getting in a station wagon with her family, all excited about the upcoming pow-wow. Kids see a Katie living a lifestyle similar to theirs while learning about her cultural heritage. I think the book is great and a very much needed update on today's Native Americans.

Average review score:

Deeper Wisdom revealed by a Reiki Master
In "Reiki Mystery School" Karyn Mitchell delves deeply into the healing art of Reiki and related mysteries. Written from the heart, and building on the wisdom revealed in her previous two books "Beyond the Usui System" and "Reiki: A Torch in Daylight", this book contains much more than the mere descriptions found in most Reiki books. A superb and well-written book for anyone on the path. Highly recommended.

Relational Concepts in Psychoanalysis: An Integration
Published in Hardcover by Harvard Univ Pr (November, 1988)
Author: Stephen A. Mitchell
Average review score:

Impressively clear and careful
This book is one of the most clear, careful, and rigorous contemporary psychoanalytic theoretical texts around. Mitchell writes with the logic and incisiveness of an analytic philosopher or logician. Although one might wish his depictions of specific clinical examples were a bit more textured and colorful, the theoretical arguments here are some of the best and most clearly stated around. I hope that more contemporary psychoanalytic theorists will become able to achieve this level of theoretical clarity and rigor.

Religion in America
Published in Paperback by Prentice Hall (31 July, 1996)
Author: Julia Mitchell Corbett
Average review score:

Very helpful survey.
This book provides a very good, basic framework for looking at many of the major Christian denominations in America, as well as a brief look at other world religions in America. I used this book in a "Religion and Popular Culture" class in college, and am now using it to teach a class at my church. The book also has very good study questions, and many good website links.

Reversing Gum Disease Naturally: A Holistic Home Care Program
Published in Digital by John Wiley & Sons, Inc. ()
Authors: Sandra Senzon, Mitchell Charnas, and E. Chronimed Zack
Average review score:

Preventing and reversing gum disease
This is an excellent book written by a very dedicated dental hygienist who does her best to impart her years of acquired wisdom, so that we can take responsibility for our dental health and protect our teeth. The author teaches us that most people lose teeth as they get older, not because of tooth decay, but rather because of gum disease.

She explains what happens and why, and goes on to teach us how to look after our gums, whether they are currently good, or in bad shape. She show us how to set up an at-home hygiene center for looking after our gums.

This book contains lots of very useful information, not just from an understanding viewpoint, but from a practical self treatment viewpoint as well.

Highly recommended for anyone who wants to prevent or treat gum disease.

Great Ricky book!
This book is such an excellent biography of Ricky! I found out so much about him, like his somewhat troubled family life, and his group Menudo. It was the best Ricky book I have read so far and I highly recommend it!

Rights and Duties: Reflections on Our Conservative Constitution
Published in Hardcover by Spence Pub (15 August, 1997)
Authors: Russell Kirk, Mitchell S. Muncy, and Russell Hittinger
Average review score:

Final thoughts from one of America's clearest thinkers.
Russell Kirk (d. 1994) was a quiet genius who, for some 40 years, provided the intellectual foundations of genuine conservatism in America, drawing heavily upon European, specifically English, thought along the way. This book gathers his final essays and addresses. It represents, as it were, his last analysis of the system and, to some degree, his prognosis for its future. The introduction is by Dr. Russell Hittinger, perhaps Kirk's most perceptive interpreter. Requires attentive reading, but those shy of extensive academic credentials need not hesitate to approach this work. Excellent for college or graduate level political philosophy courses.END

The Rising of the Moon
Published in Paperback by Paperjacks (June, 1986)
Author: Gladys Mitchell
Average review score:

Rising suspense is Rising of the Moon
Rising of the Moon is beautifully written. Two young brothers, Simon, age 13 and Keith, age 11 are orphaned but living a fairly idyllic childhood on a farm with their goodtime older brother, stressed, prim sister-in-law and the family's delectable female lodger. The first grisly murder excites the boys' curiousity and as they play amateur detective their clumsy efforts to help their married brother make him appear guilty. Beatrice Bradley appears midway through the book, gaining their confidence and trust. The charm of the book is the style. Mitchell evokes small town/country life in postwar England. The boys fish, plan to sneak into the circus, and live a very independent life beneath the noses of their pub hopping brother and his more conventional wife.

Readers may guess the identity of the murderer but the boys are so likeable, the lovely lodger so charming that the innocence of childhood versus the horrors of a multiple killer make for a striking contrast.

HOpefully since Diana Rigg's series features the (Beatrice) Adela Bradley character the book will again appear in print.
